General description
Assumes the lead position on the deck and performs a number of tasks in connection with lifting operations under the supervision of the Crane Operator, acting as Crane Operator when required.
Responsibility
Specific tasks include, but are not limited to the below.
Perform other work as directed
Emergency responsibilities as per station bill
Responsible for:
Leading the operators assigned to the deck by example, and providing mentoring
Maintaining a good working environment in the drilling areas by good housekeeping
Lifting operations as a Crane Operator, when required
Participate in:
Handling of tubulars and other drilling equipment
Loading and unloading cargo from supply vessels
Handling of fuel and bulk cargo
Helideck operations
Maintenance of deck equipment

Authority
Where responsibility is allocated the matching authority is also granted, unless
otherwise stated. Stop any operation when deemed unsafe to continue

Documentation and record responsibilities
Make required entries in the maintenance logbook, lubrication/greasing logbook and deck logbook.
Make sure that all cargo gear being used are properly certified and maintain
accurate logs of all lifting tackle and appliances.

Qualification requirements
Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as Assistant Crane Operator / Deck Operator or equivalent
• Requires knowledge of crane and rigging safety instrutions and regulations and the operational limits of cranes and associated lifting equipment.
• Experience supervising Roustabout crews and in offshore drilling operations.
• Strong leadership skills and an ability to coach, motivate and mentor others and develop their skills and knowledge.

Certification Requirements:
Training according to training matrix
Crane Operator Stage 2 certificate or equivalent as per area of operation
Certified as Helicopter Landing Officer - preferably accredited to OPITO
Banksman Slinger and Ringer certificate - OPITO / Norwegian standard or internal Noble

Additional Skills:
Good interpersonal skills - ability to communicate at all levels
Good verbal and written English skills
